Jessica Ms. Marvel

Second part of Jessica as the Avengers’ Ms. Marvel…completely forgot about these, only realized i hadn’t put them up when going through reference pics for the other Ms. Marvel costume. You’ll be seeing that one soon, but for now enjoy these almost lost pics.

I’m not a big Marvel fan, but i’ve become addicted to Hasbro’s Marvel Universe action figure line. So much better than what we’ve gotten for DC figures in that scale (and based on early leaks/promos, Mattel’s new Green Lantern movie line sadly doesn’t do much to improve this.) Their two versions of Ms. Marvel are up there with Mystique, Constrictor and Spider-Woman as my favorites.

Still holding out hope for Ms. Marvel turning up in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, set to be released for the 360 on February 15th. She’s been heavily rumored, and makes sense, as she is kinda the dominant female character in the Marvel Universe. If they were smart enough to include Taskmaster and She-Hulk, it has to be a strong possibility, no?

The wikipedia entry on Ms. Marvel yields this quote from writer Gerry Conway, from his intro to the character’s series, “. . . you might see a parallel between her quest for identity, and the modern woman’s quest for raised consciousness, for self-liberation, for identity.”

Umm. K. That certainly sounds noble, but you know nobody ever pretends Batman is emblematic of his entire gender. Maybe we’d get more/better female-driven stories if writers didn’t feel compelled/coerced to engage in (and certain vocal segments of the audience weren’t so demanding of) such high-minded ism speak? Whatever, now back to the naked pictures.

Thanks Jessica! Oh yeah, i think we’re doing an airbrush/bodypaint shoot next week. If you’re so inclined, pick a color: blue, green, white or silver.

The DC Direct line is pretty bomb. I got my Arkham Asylum Harley Quinn last week, and it’s probably my all time favorite figure.

And if you want a really great female parallel to the modern day quest for discovery, I highly recommend X-23. At first I rolled my eyes at the idea of a female Wolverine Clone….but ultimately, the book is VERY well written and Laura has become a character all her own outside of the Wolverine mythos.

I really think you’d dig her. Marjorie Liu has really turned X-23 from a one note gimmick into one of my favorite developing characters.

Green. We need Jessica dressed as Miss Martian.

Also, nice pictures. Either you’re figuring out how to photograph her better, or Jess is getting prettier. Weird.

Awesome. What a hot chick! I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but I dig how a bunch of the pictures ended up with a purple tint. And I’ve seen blue, green and silver airbrush shoots; but I don’t think I’ve ever seen white. So I’m picking white.

Hmm…too bad pink wasn’t an option. I’d love to see your take on Blink from Exiles!!

Blue could be Nocturne…I’ll go with that!
