New cosplay pics. Did you know the NAACP is having their national convention this week? In honor of that, we’ll make it Black week at Veidt. First, here’s Virginia back as Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow. Next up is Jessica as Black Canary.
On the subject of red-haired spies, USA is debuting Covert Affairs tonight, which i’d love to dismiss as a blatant Alias ripoff, but Alias ripoff beats no Alias at all, and Piper Perabo gets a lifetime pass Lost + Delirious and The Presitige. Between that and the recent capture (and subsequent release/exchange) of a real life ginger Russian spy, it seemed kind of timely to revisit the Avengers’ in-house intelligence operative.
More superheroine cosplay pics after the jump.
I don’t really like Scarlett Johansson, and Iron Man 2 was just okay…but i can’t fucking wait to get the Hot Toys Black Widow action figure. Relative quality of the movie and Johannson’s performance aside, the figure looks fucking astounding. There are so few great female figures in the first place, and my HT Silk Spectre desperately needs someone to fight. The figure is due out in the 3rd quarter, until then i guess i’ll make do with the costume.
I’ve not seen a release date anywhere for Iron Man 2 on blu-ray, but i do hope they include all the Widow stuff cut out from the theatrical release. Jon Favreau reportedly decided to reduce her screentime, thinking audiences would prefere to focus on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts…
Yeah, that’s a great call, sir. When i go to comic book movies, i’m hoping for as much of a showcase of the same normal humans i can see in every other goddamn movie as possible. Giant Transformable robot movies, too – you better give me my fucking money’s worth of unexceptional regular people, or else.
Thanks for wearing it again, Virginia.
