Cosplay interpretation of Poison Ivy, as she appears in Eidos’ upcoming video game Batman: Arkham Asylum. Ivy was somehow overlooked in Grant Morrison’s seminal graphic novel Arkham Asylum, but she does get to play a central role in the game that appears to have been at least semi-heavily inspired by that work. Also, bonus provocative makeover.
I hit the crafts store to find plastic kudzu for this, and a minute or two in, i swear to God, the muzak starts playing the old Poison Ivy song. Fucking surreal. I’m glad i was there with a pal to corroborate, otherwise nobody would believe it.

Originally just an aggressive botanist with an immunity to toxins when she debuted in the 1960′s, Ivy has been evolving into a progressively post-human plant goddess since the rebooted Batman animated series, 12 years ago. It was on that show where she first developed a chlorophyll-fueled pallor, and an omni-sexual proclivity (implied, at least.)
The Batman: Arkham Asylum game depicts Poison Ivy at the height of her power. She bends giant, lethal, mutant plants to her will, and sports a healthy green glow. It’s unfortunate she’s fictional: with her zealous, pro-environmental ethos, and (almost) complete disdain for the human race, Ivy would have had a solid shot at stealing the Presidential Science Adviser position from John Holdren.
