This isn’t a horror movie blog, but that doesn’t mean I have no love for the genre. The Strangers is actually one of my favorite movies of the year, and I’m fairly well-versed in all the major franchises. I love Jason and Michael Meyers, as they’re sort-of like the dark reflections of characters like Snake Eyes and Batman. Those super-slasher characters laid the foundation for more sophisticated takes on the psycho killer, like Patrick Bateman, Dexter Morgan, and Leslie Vernon (from the criminally underrated Behind the Mask.)

The Rob Zombie Halloween remake was painful and embarrasing, so I had floor-high expectations of the new Friday the 13th remake, coming from Michael Bay and Marcus Nispel (who brought us the tepid Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake series.) Then I saw these new Jason pics, today, from fridaythe13thfilms.com.

Jason’s human again! Loved the 4th Friday the 13th, with Crispin Glover, and that was the last time he looked quasi-human/alive. I even like the blonde hair (is he wearing his mom’s face scalp, or is that really his neck?) Just don’t take it too far, yeah? Nobody wants to see 40 minutes of Jason’s childhood, and have him rendered completely mortal (poor Michael…)
