Another day, another Hannibal series trailer. This one might even be better than the How to Destroy Angels one, for all the brilliant imagery on display. It reminds me of the heartbreak of Dexter, a few seasons back. You had the Doomsday Killer(s) rig a couple horses with mannequins and body parts to create a stylized Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, to parade down a main drag in Miami. SO MUCH POTENTIAL FOR EYE-BLEEDINGLY GORGEOUS VISUALS, but it was over and done in a few seconds. Fuck, if i were in charge, that would have been a full episode, with a follow-up one dedicated to all the nightmares it inspired, and the lives ruined by something that macabre so boldly intruding into the mundane.
As much as i’d like it to be, Dexter is never going to be about that kind of extreme imagery and pitch black imagination. Hannibal looks like it’s going to be all about this, and when it’s not, you’ve still got Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy reenacting the early seasons of Smallville (and i mean that in the best possible way.)
Also, at the 2:14 mark, all i’m seeing is “Daddy would you like some sausage?“, which made my day.
