New alt cosplay pics, featuring Marnie in a set inspired by animated anti-heroine Jessie of Team Rocket. The second part in a week-long run of new cosplay sets, these were taken over the summer, and i kinda liked some of them. But what do i know.
If you tracked me down in 1999, and told me that by 2013 there would be no live-action Pokemon movie, or even any appreciable momentum on the development of such a movie, i would probably sock you in the sternum, then go jump off a parking structure.

Suppose you got alchemy to work. (which it probably does, but not like we’d ever know…can you conceive an even marginally rational reason to share that knowledge with anyone?) Further suppose you’ve lived hundreds of years thanks to your alchemically-enhanced lifespan, and have witnessed things that you come to conclude can only be explained as miraculous. And as long as you can stretch out your life, it’s going to end sometime…who knows what long litany of horrible deeds you’ve committed over those centuries?
Isn’t your most logical play to convince the masses that God doesn’t exist, and cheerlead the resulting depravity, so as to make yourself appear more worthy of heaven, by comparison?
That’s what i got out of Pokemon: The First Movie, anyway…

Nintendo’s been smart to hold off with any more Hollywood adventurism since the Mario Brothers movie. They can sit back and wait until someone else figures out how to make a video game adaptation that doesn’t feel like watching your best friend getting raped by terrorists. Nevaldine and Taylor already laid the groundwork for anyone trying to adapt an oldschool beat-em-up or action platformer with the Crank series, so maybe if Doug Jones knocks WOW outta the park we’ll get some movement on a Pokemon movie.
Weirdly enough, I never considered that a Pokemon movie would be worth making, but I can kind of see how it could work assuming you got a director willing to make a flick that doesn’t feel like it needs to explain every godamn thing. Someone with a sense of humor and fun. Maybe find a young actor that isn’t unbearably annoying.
Nevermind, I take it back, it’s impossible.
