Bane The Dark Knight Rises

Do you have annoying cineaste intellectuals among your friends and family? Ones who went to NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and will never let you forget it, and/or those who’ll instantly go into a diatribe on how infinitely superior something like Searching for Sugar Man is, whenever a commercially viable, and actually entertaining, film comes up in conversation?

I certainly do. And i made sure to send each one of them this link, where minor deity to annoying cineastes Paul Thomas Anderson reveals his admiration and appreciation of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series. It’s pretty joyous, if you love Nolan’s Bat movies like i doth.

Also in that article, it’s mentioned that Anderson’s best film, Punch Drunk Love, is finally getting a blu-ray release. That’s almost as joyous.

Also, Also, made the drive out to see The Dark Knight Rises one more time in proper IMAX, last week. What i finally noticed on my 11th viewing: When the special forces Captain played by Daniel Sunjata, who has a really strong resemblance to President Obama, is led into the back storeroom to meet the Gotham cops, Commisioner Gordon asks if he has any ID. The Captain curtly replies, “Of course not!

Was that Nolan making a birther joke? If so, i finally got it.

High five, TSLUF. High. Five.

I dunno. Anderson also said he enjoyed Ted, which… ehhg. I like Sam J. Jones as much as the next guy (assuming the next guy loves the Flash Gordon movie), but the ‘weird celebrity cameo’ joke has really, really run its course. And that’s all it really had.

And am I the only one that keeps hearing W. C. Fields every time Bane speaks in DKR?
