New cosplay pics featuring Kat, in a set inspired by Mystique from X-Men: First Class. I may lean heavily towards favoring DC characters, but XM:FC was right up there with The Tree of Life, Drive, and Hanna, amongst the best films of 2011.
Thought it was better than Avengers, but my taste may be questionable.
This was stuff that was shot awhile ago, intended for Cosplay Tetherball, but the bodypaint here made for the worst shooting experience we’ve had. Let’s just say i’ve learned not everyone who calls themselves a makeup artist actually is, especially when 2 1/2 hours yields an end result that looks like this.
Was seriously ready to lay my head on a train track before it was over. It was soul-crushing stuff…but a very wise man once said, “That which does not kill us, makes us stranger.”
More pics after ze jump. Not for sub-adults, or offended by nudity types, though. If that’s you, maybe you’d like to hear a secret, instead? Want to know who i took to see The Oogieloves?
Posting these mostly because i thought it was kind-of/sorta clever how within maybe half an hour, we turned a heavily-clearanced yellow sweatshirt nobody apparently wanted into a 1000% screen-accurate replica of Mystique’s First-Class flight suit. Possibly 1010%.
Thanks Kat, for enduring this little Hell. More cosplay stuff, and significantly better bodypaints, to come.

Dude just wanted a chance to paint on a naked girl. Can’t blame. Still a cool set, though.
Actually, it was a woman…but you could still be onto something.
Great photoshoot, too bad the body paint didnt work out so great I would have loved to see them on teatherball. btw when would I get a reply on that after donation?
There is an art to shooting to body paint. It’s two parts lighting , and three parts post production photo-shop work. And with someone skilled enough in photoshop, you can probably even limit the impact of the lighting issue. I’m curious, are you shooting directly to .jpg, or some other form of web ready image, or do you shoot in a RAW format that needs to be processed into a .jpg? The reason I ask, is because with a picture like that you get a lot of control over adjusting lighting, contrast, exposure, etc, etc, and it can all be toyed with in post production. Don’t get discouraged with those shots, they present us with an excellent learning opportunity and if you’d like to talk shop sometime feel free to e-mail any questions or problems you run into and I’ll shoot you some advice/help.
In the interest of full disclosure, I’m still a student myself, but I’ve recently found myself in similar situations and not getting the shot I wanted and trying to figure out how the pros get some of these effects the way they do.
Don’t worry! I thought these pictures were pretty awesome and sexy! Oh and I sent you the info for the custom cosplay (in two emails as a few documents didn’t get attached to the first email, look for “custom cosplay info” and “custom cosplay” both from sciencekid93), so let me know what you think!!
Jacen – i’m a total amateur piker, and only just getting around to learning/attempting some more complex techniques w/ lighting and photoshop. Will definitely hang onto your email, thanks!
SK93 – thank you, and yeah, got your emails today. Will message you back.
Ok, thanks! Please let me know what you think!
Sherry, you do terrific work and you have a fan in me. I check your site about once every 2 weeks to see what you are up too. I also like the things you have to say. I am always in awh of women that are funnier than i am. Like what you said about your xboyfriend who won the lotto and ran off. Or on this post where you quoted that about what doesnt kill you, makes you stranger. LOL! Just want to say thanks:) from an allright guy.
