I’m fascinated by this movie, now apparently just called Texas Chainsaw 3D. Mostly because they’re ignoring all the other Chainsaw sequels and reboots, and making a direct continuation of the original, but also because of the mystery surrounding the production. I think they wrapped filming way back in January, and this is the first actual image related to the film i can recall seeing.
Anyway, brilliant poster via Fangoria. And whether it’s now retconned out of existence, or not, Tobe Hooper’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 is a masterwork of absurdist nihilism, and up on youtube for frees here.

Hrm. When I first saw the poster, my mind immediately went to “Viewer beware, you’re in for a scare.”
‘Texas Chainsaw’ makes me think of George Thorogood and the Destroyers or ZZ Top or Molly Hatchet. They probably should have kept the ‘Massacre’ part of the title. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the all-time great film titles- it’s the kind of title that immediately lets you know whether or not you’re interested in seeing such a film.
Ah well.
