G.I. Joe: Retaliation spontaneously delayed until March 2013?

Hmmm…big, pro-military movie starring 2 of the highest profile Republicans in Hollywood as elite soldiers on a mission to overthrow a sinister, subversive, psuedo-President suddenly gets its release pushed back to 4 months after the big election that’s beginning to look more difficult for the incumbent than initially expected?

Seems curious to me, but what do i know. Movies that buy superbowl ad time probably get delayed 9 months all the time.

potential upside: Hasbro has time to get its act together, and release some damn Joe/Cobra Kre-O construction sets…and maybe it really will generate bigger profits in March, so we could get a sequel with Serpentor.

Well they claim its to bolster its reception in foreign markets by adding in 3D, but i wouldn’t put anything past Hollywood. Im shocked a movie version of Dreams From My Father starring George Clooney and Matt Damon isn’t releasing in November.

They saw that it would be going up against Batman and Spider-Man and with Battleshit doing so damn poorly this past weekend due to AVENGERS! being so damn kickass, they decided to push it back a year.

Why do you have to always make everything about politics. This dumb popcorn movie was delayed so it can make more money in the box office on 3D. it has nothing to do with politics. You are beyond annoying sometimes.

Fair enough. I was kind of kidding in the above post, in case that wasn’t obvious.

It’s a lonely lot in life to dig film, comics, and pseudo-art photography, while leaning libertarian…especially in Los Angeles. I’ll try to edit myself, but it’s bound to bleed thru occasionally.

Well the sarcasm was easily detectable from my end. Chill out people… it’s only freakin’ GiJoe and I’m not expecting too much considering the last movie.

Don’t censor yourself because of some asshat. It’s your site, you do what you damn well please. Don’t let trogs like Ian force you to change.

It struck me as Greg Gutfeldian. Which isn’t a bad thing. Or a word, but, you know.

There’s also boobs on the site if one’s not a fan of right-leaning G.I.Joe sequel speculation humor.

As for G.I.Joe: Retaliation… frankly, I thought they had the most enticing trailers this summer. I give waaaaay more shits about Batman and The Avengers, but the trailers for Retaliation got me from ‘not giving a shit’ to ‘definitely plunking down the cash to see it.’ It looks like they really nailed it this time, and here’s hoping they’re doing this to keep it from getting crushed by the other big movies this summer, rather than because it’s a massive soggy turd with a few flourishes that look great in a trailer.

i only snickered a little bit at the conspiratorial implications of this post… seems like the test audiences just weren’t feeling it, so some reshooting is in order… and the whole 3d thing is just a smokescreen. because it could have been shot in 3d to start with.
