So you may have noticed there’s a void at top right, where once there were glorious, vaguely contextual, banner ads. (If you use adblock, and there’s really no reason you shouldn’t, it may come as a surprise that there are ads on here at all.) Last week google adsense notified me they were shutting down my account for running their ads in conjunction with lewd/provocative images.
I’d been with adsense for years, and i was under the impression that they do multiple reviews of publisher sites before the first payment is issued. So either they overlooked the fact that those lewd/provocative images have been a key component of the site for some time now, or somebody ratted me out.
Which is fine. It’s their network, they need to protect their advertisers, and they’re free to dictate the terms of access for publisher sites. It just blows that that was the only thing generating any kind of revenue here, and would cover the ongoing costs of a dedicated server. And, of course, traffic spiked dramatically right after google pulled its ads, with two of the biggest days in the history of the site. God is a funny bastard.
If someone did actually report me to the google morality police, i can probably get you direct email contacts if you’d care to do likewise with Adbrite, the network running the other ads here. Can’t tell you how i’d mourn the loss of those $0.07 CPMs.
What does that mean for the future of this site? I don’t know, yet. Open to suggestions. But for now, i’m just focused on turning out the best possible photo book i can.

Adsense do suck royally. you could probably make more going direct to the affiliates and cut out the massive cut they take.
And the photo book’s going to be amazing too
I sent the tiny bit of money I had in my PayPal account to help make up the difference.
It’s the thought that counts.
I hope.
I use JuicyAds but it’s an adult ad network. Maybe you could try promoting Amazon or Entertainment Earth (two non-adult affiliate programs I actually have success with)
Just wanted to say the the photo of Kat @ the top of this post is one of the best I’ve seen at the site. Don’t get me wrong – all of them are great, but this one really stands out as different from the pretty-girls-in-costumes fare as something like a character study. Good work to all involved.
+1 at Snarf. You both levelled up!
Have you tried BlogAds, I’m using them for my site which happen to occasionally show the sexy human form in its full glory too.
Who the hell would rat out someone that gives away free boobs?! That’s insane.
Second’d on Geist01′s suggestion, Amazon N E.E. are pretty reputable and right up your alley for the most part. Hell, E.E. also does endorsement deals such as testing out new figures… hint hint.
I personally pay like $50 a year for my website at justhost. and thats for unlimited everything. if you have any questions feel free to email me i’ll try to be helpful.
