Not sure which is more surprising: that the new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series is so much better than the other original content on Hasbro’s Hub network (love the character designs on G.I. Joe: Renegades, but started missing episodes, and not caring), or that it lends itself so well to such dope mash-up fan vids. In particular, Ponymen by BronyVids, a masterfully done compilation edited around the third trailer for Watchmen (the one featuring Phillip Glass’ Pruit Igoe and Prophecies, and Take a Bow by Muse.)
Twilight as Dr. Manhattan and Spike as Veidt are pretty inspired, but Pinkie Pie for Rorschach is wrong. I get that it’s intended as ironic funny, but how do you do that to a guy who forsakes all comfort and joy to selflessly put his life at risk to protect an ideal? Rorschach desperately needs a hug, not snide derision that would only make him angrier. It’s wrong.
