EW.com put up the first look at Adrianne Palicki in costume as Wonder Woman, from the now-in-production David E. Kelley pilot. BLANDTASTIC! Fug. If the Aeon Flux movie taught us anything, it’s that putting more clothes on the live-action adaptation of your post-human heroine makes them endlessly more compelling.
I don’t like it. Palicki looks great, and the costume is surprisingly good from the waist up, but i’m just not digging the sky-blue leggings, and lack of iconic white stars. Seems nuetered, and actually succeeds in making the new, comic book geek feminist bloggers-placating costume DC intro’d last year look kind of awesome, in comparison. So much for eye candy salvaging the script.
Speaking of Flux, never knew about this longer version of the Peter Chung-directed Diet Pepsi commercial from the mid-90′s with Cindy Crawford and Malcolm McDowell as thinly-veiled versions of Aeon and Trevor Goodchild, but just stumbled across it on youtube. Ever so fucking dope!

She looks hot, but the geek in me is crying foul. The whole “un-Americanizing” of comic book heroes, sucks balls. Just like the director from the Captain America movie was saying that Cap isn’t as patriotic as he was in the comics.
Yeah, that’s a real disappointment. The choice of materials is the biggest mistake of all. Plus she doesn’t look Amazonian. Don’t know wtf Slade is yacking about. At least we know ScarJo has the best costume so far.
I dunno. The costume really doesn’t bother me. I can recognize it as Wonder Woman and it breaks the “League of Hoodies” that Smallville has going. I wish the boots were red, but I can live with it. Palicki is a great actress.
What I’m REALLY worried about is the script!!
I don’t like the costume or the actress. I wish Lucy Lawless were younger so she could play the role- she actually looks like she could toss a car at a gang of baddies, or go toe to toe with a Titan. The problem with superhero costumes is that no matter how good they look on paper, they look stupid on an actual person. With the exception of the Iron Man armor, which is badass.
That commercial is awesome. I just watched the live action AF movie a couple weeks ago, and I would have liked it more if it had just been a stand alone dystopian SF flick- it wasn’t that bad (not that it was good, it just wasn’t unwatchably bad), it just didn’t work for me as an AF movie.
