Adrianne Palicki is David E. Kelly’s pontificating, action-deprived Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman Adrianne Palicki

Last night, Adrianne Palicki was announced as the lead in David E. Kelly’s Wonder Woman pilot. She looks great, and I’m cautiously optimistic about the potential for this to work, despite having read the very same draft of the script so expertly eviscerated here. Read that and know he’s being charitable.

Why do i have faith, when it sounds so colossally lame? Well, i loved Boston Legal, and to a lesser extent, other Kelly series like The Practice and Ally McBeal. Also, have it on fairly good authority that changes are being implemented, possibly at the suggestion/insistence of the new Comcast bosses. So if you have your heart set on proselytizing tournaments, dated pop music, badly defined powers, and seeing Diane Feinstein give the Amazon Princess a thumbs up, you might possibly want to revise down those expectations. We’ll see.

Whatever. Even if it does blow, it’ll hopefully serve as a vital guide on what not to do with the eventual Wonder Woman film. And for the real reason i’m posting any of this, click through for boobs and what might have been…

Here’s an Adrianne Palicki topless pic (thanks Egotastic.com and Google Image search!) The script describes her wearing something much closer to the boring new comic costume, rather than her classic, one piece “armor.” Fingers crossed the Comcast crew intervenes here, as well.

And here’s a video of the incomparably gorgeous Megan Gale, who was set to play Diana of Themiscyra in George Miller’s Justice League movie, that got derailed by the Writer’s Strike in 2007, dressed up as fetish icon Bettie Page. $50 says that even if all the stars align for it, no matter how good Kelly’s pilot turns out, it won’t be as entertaining as this video.

If it’s still silly but entertaining, then it might be a great change for the DC heroine. But I was hoping for somebody more exotic looking.

I wish I could be more excited for Wonder Woman, but the character is so largely unrefined. She’s been trying to find out who and what she is for decades now. Her personality changes with every writer, her role with every arc…..that’s why her books aren’t doing well.

She’s just a hard character to have any expectation of, so the script needs to be great because for a lot of people, the show is probably what will form their view of Diana.

She, Adrianne is a cute girl, but is so hard to fill the, eh, Wonder Woman costume left by Linda Carter, that it’s creating this not so positive response. Anyway, I think we have to give it a try. What I certainly hate is the new uniform. I want to see some legs.
