The trailer may be a bit inert, but it’s still Green Lantern

First trailer for Martin Campbell’s upcoming Green Lantern movie. I hate to be so cliche as to complain about a comic book movie preview, but i don’t know that they’re doing the film any favors with this. I know there’s dark shit in there, i’ve got pics on my phone of stuff i was suitably impressed they’d actually work into a big tentpole/franchise-launching movie with assloads of kid-targeted merchandise…but this trailer suggests nothing more interesting or weird than Tim Story’s Fantastic Fours. Either way, Campbell has a lifetime pass after Casino Royale, and it’s Green Lantern, so bad trailer or no i’ll be seeing it at least 10x.

More importantly, how about that Blake Lively? I couldn’t wrap my head around the likes of Nolan and Luhrmann giving her the time of day, but after witnessing the caliber of performance hinted at in this trailer, fuck i’m converted.

Green Lantern opens midnight June 17th, 2011.

So a helicopter crashed into a church carnival, a jeep caught 2 feet of air, and peter sarsgaard grew a pedo mustache…and you felt really compelled to show me all this WHY, green lantern movie trailer?

I’m genuinely more excited over the new Sofia Coopola movie. with the guy from Blade.

When evil looms, their rings held high,
Green Lanterns bring the light.
Come in our darkest hour, galactic emerald knights!
Galactic Emerald Knights: Green Lanterns!

Yeah, that’s how I felt about the trailer.
