Star Sapphire cosplay take 2

Posted October 15th, 2009 by Veidt & filed under cosplay.

Another take on the central character of DC’s Blackest Night series (as far as I’m concerned), Carol Ferris aka Star Sapphire, the most powerful of the Violet Lantern Corps. I love the character, like this costume, and wanted more pics. Still no word as to whether Ferris will appear in costume in Martin Campbell’s upcoming Green Lantern movie, or even who might play her, so who knows how long it’ll be until we see a proper, live-action interpretation of the villainess.

Star Sapphire, despite playing a significant role in DC’s event series of the year, and having one of the skimpiest costumes in comics, hasn’t really reaped much in terms of merchandising. She’s getting a new action figure from DC Direct, in their Blackest Night line, but it’s just an old figure re-cast in translucent plastic. Sadly, there’s been no noise as yet on a 13″ figure, Tonner doll, or even a DC Universe Classics figure…not that anybody would be able to find one (thanks Mattel.)

More pics after the jump!

A quick request. If you like these pics, or any of the other cosplay sets i’ll be posting soon, please do consider forwarding links/forum posting/social bookmarking/whatever. Virtually nobody knows about this site, which would suit me fine, except for the ads you see on the site. Whatever revenue those generate goes to a couple charities I care about (no, nothing political…animal shelters and dog and rodent rescues that operate in California.) What’s in it for you: if traffic improves to the point where the site is actually contributing something to those orgs, we’ll do a lot more of these, on a more consistent basis.

Also, there’s a Chemo cosplay set, that may sound horrific if you know who Chemo is, but it actually turned out to be the bubbly green sex. I have no idea how i’ll be able to post it here without censoring the hell out of it, but will figure something out.

Alan Moore may find the whole thing sad, but I’ve been digging the Blackest Night. There’s a Bat crossover issue I’m looking forward to in particular – Catwoman #83, due January 2010. It’s already been leaked that the issue will feature the original Black Mask resurrected as a Black Lantern, but I’m still holding out hope for Selina being recruited into the Violet Lanterns.

Was this worth revisiting? Do leave your thoughts in ze comments. Also, thanks to T. for shooting and Jessica for modeling the outfit and looking awesome.

Bestest cosplay evah! Perfect marriage of fine female form to skimpy superheroic suit! You wouldn’t happen to need an assistant photographer for the next shoot with this model, would you? And, boy, this is also one of the NSFW-est. It sure was getting nipply out there!

temp color straight from the can. thought it looked good, though.

Yeah, bought a bag of ring pops for Arisia, and we totally forgot to use them.

This cosplay is terrible. I’m all for looking sexy, but even tho ss’s costume is skimpy, this is just an excuse for attention whoring.

I love everyone of Jessica’s photo ops, there fantastic. It was her as Arisia that got me here in the first place and I’m always coming back.

I saw that Blake Lively will play Carol Ferris in the GL movie. Jessica can sure give here a run for being Star Sapphire in the movie.

Chemo set? I’m intrigued what exactly this could entail… Still debating posting it? You should, we love everything thus far!

Cover the tattoos and do a more accurate costume. This is mostly a base and vulgar display. Try to class up your act.

Jessica is amazing. I’m absolutely smitten. And anyone who really thinks that this is about some artistic expression of some sort needs to be relieved of their delusional burdens. This is geek porn, pure and simple, and I love it for what it is. Keep up the great work, everyone.

Having just gone back through the cosplay collection I think I can say that this is my favourite. It’s super duper hot but it also looks like some serious effort was put into the cosplay side which in my book is the winning combination. I think I’m fair in saying that sets with Jessica will always do well as she does have the closest to a real super heroine body which really makes the whole thing work. I might be grumpy at times with lots of new stuff only being available to donators but when this is still free you’ve got to be grateful.
