New images from the upcoming Gamer. As a Dexter fan, I’d be excited about any movie featuring Michael C. Hall, but couple that with the fact that it’s directed by Neveldine/Taylor, who’ve already turned out the best movie of 2009 (so far), and the expectations go off all measurable scales. I’m pretty much ready to concede the rest of the year to Where the Wild Things Are, site unseen…but if anything has a shot at taking that crown, i suspect it will be Gamer. We shall see.
Gamer is out September 4th, the same day as Mike Judge’s Extract…which sets up a weird bit of synchronicity. That same Labor Day weekend (typically considered a dumping ground for unmarketable movies) in 2006 saw the release of Neveldine/Taylor’s Crank(!!!) and Mike Judge’s Idiocracy(!) I guess this rather depressingly goes to prove that 3 years later, the studios still largely have no fucking appreciation for real talent.
